FAQ Contura fireplace inserts

What is the difference between a fireplace and a fireplace insert?
A fireplace is essentially an opening in the wall with a flue or chimney above it, so a fire can be lit indoors. Fireplaces can be either masonry fireplaces or factory-built fireplaces. In comparison, a fireplace insert can burn gas, wood, or pellets, and is inserted into an existing masonry fireplace.

How much does it cost to install a fireplace insert?
Contura provide installation instructions with our fireplace inserts, which will require an authorised technician. Contact one of our Contura dealers for more information.

Are fireplace inserts more efficient?
Fireplace inserts have sealed, air tight doors which effectively generate more heat as the fire burns much slower and the heat isn't wasted. The doors will also prevent inside heated air from escaping through the flue or chimney, as well as stop outdoor air from getting into the home.

Do fireplace inserts save money?
Fireplace inserts are a lower cost option in comparison to renovating your home to replace an existing masonry fireplace. They are also more efficient in terms of saving money on your energy bill. With an efficient wood-burning heating system, there is less gas, oil or electricity used to heat your home.

How long does a fireplace insert last?
A well-maintained fireplace insert can last up to 30 years before it needs to be replaced.
