Oven |
The oven allows you to keep a meal warm, bake a pie or bake bread. All stoves in the Contura 600 series can be equipped with ovens.
|
Fire wall |
Fire safe concrete or tile wall which means that you can place the stove nearer the wall without risk of fire. |
Firebox |
The heart of the stove. It is in the firebox that the fire spreads its light and heat. |
Clean-Burning |
When the control on the front side of the stove is slid closed the so called "Clean Burning system" takes effect. Pre-heated air is supplied to the fire through a duct system and an air distributor in the rear of the stove. This has the advantage of the stove never having too little oxygen but always burning cleanly and efficiently. In addition, the burn time is extremely long. |
Output |
Output is measured in kW (kilowatt) and is a measurement of how ”much" heat the stove can give off at a fixed time. The larger the fire the greater the output. |
Output control |
The control on the front side can be used to determine what output the stove should burn with. |
Hearth plate |
The hearth plate is the plate that the stove stands on. A hearth plate should be made of a material which prevents the floor from catching fire. |
Fan |
An accessory that is installed in the machine and which spreads the heated air in the room. The fan does not increase the output of the fire but it does spread the heated air quicker. The fan for Contura stoves is thermostatically controlled, which means that they start automatically when the stove is lit and switch off when the fire has gone out. Naturally, the fan can also be controlled manually if desired. |
Cast iron |
Constant shape material which can tolerate large temperature changes. For example, on Contura stoves the door is made from cast iron which minimises the risks of the door leaking. |
Cast iron top |
There are different tops to choose between in the Contura 500- & 600 series. One of the models is made of cast iron. |
Convection |
Convection heater means that cooler air is drawn into the stove and heated in the efficient convection zones and then flows out into the room in the form of heated room air. |
Convection front |
A front which spreads heated air. |
Disc top |
There are different tops to choose between in the Contura 500- & 600 series. One of the models is a disc top which gives the stove a modern appearance. |
Walled-in stove |
Concrete is built up around a stove cassette to then be painted or plastered. |
P Marking. |
The P mark is issued by the Swedish National Testing and Research Institute. This means that the Contura stove has undergone extra thorough manufacturing checks, meets more stringent environmental requirements and can be cleanly lit in all output ranges. The P mark is also a quality guarantee and means that the stove is highly efficient with low wood consumption. |
Primary air & Secondary air
|
To achieve efficient combustion, air is blown into the oven in different stages. First, primary air into the fuel bed, then secondary air from above into the smoke. Smoke recirculation reduces the nitrogen oxide build-up and also reduces the total volume of smoke.
|
Premodul |
Interior and exterior chimney system, which is developed to give maximum safety and comfort with all Contura stoves. |
Grate |
A control that you can open so that the ash falls into the ash box. |
Side glass |
Glass sections that make it possible to see the fire in the fire box from the sides. |
Base |
A base mounted on the stove if a wood compartment or drawer has not been selected. |
Connector |
Tight sealing transfer between the stove and the chimney. |
Type & Environmentally approved |
Our products, which are classed as secondary heating sources, are type and environmentally approved at the Swedish National Testing and Research Institute. Visit www.sp.se for more information. |
Soapstone |
Soapstone is a relatively soft rock form consisting of chlorite and talc. Soapstone can feel slightly greasy if one runs one hand over the stone surface. It is easy to work because it is soft. It tolerates high temperatures and retains heat well and so is ideal for stoves |
Soapstone top |
There are different tops to choose between in the Contura 500- & 600 series. One of the models is made of soapstone. |
Lighting position |
This is when the door to the stove is open a few centimetres. The stove must remain in the lighting position for approximately 15-20 minutes before closing the door completely. |
Drawer |
The drawer is an accessory available for most of the stoves in the Contura 500 and 600 series. The drawer is installed instead of the base or wood compartment. |
Wood compartment |
The wood compartment is a practical way to store logs under the stove. The wood compartment is available for most of the stoves in the Contura 500 and 600 series. |
Efficiency level |
The relationship between used and supplied energy in a system. The higher the efficiency level (0-100%) the better the stove makes use of the energy supplied in the form of wood that is burnt. Contura’s stove have an efficiency level of approx 80% . |
Vermiculite ® |
The inside of the firebox is clad with Vermiculite, a very high quality, fireproof material that contributes to increasing combustion temperature in the firebox. |
Turntable |
The turntable is an accessory on which your stove can be mounted. The turntable makes it possible to direct heat in a direction you may require. Choose between 90°, 180° and 360° stepless rotation. |
Rotating connection |
The rotating connection allows you to rotate the stove without the chimney locking it. See Connector for more information. |
Hot shelf |
The hot shelf can be used to heat buns, coffee, tea etc. The hot shelf is available for most of the stoves in the Contura 600 series. |
